A bill spearheaded by state Rep. Sue Helm, R-Dauphin County, banning private transfer fees on real estate sales and requiring disclosure of existing fees in the commonwealth, passed this week in both the Senate and the House.

Buxton would have a say in state attempt to take over Harrisburg

Sen. Jeffrey Piccola laid down the law to Harrisburg officials last month by threatening that they better accept some version of the Act 47 fiscal-recovery plan done by the state — or else. The Dauphin County Republican has said that if city leaders reject the financial recovery plan, he would push legislation that would allow a state takeover of the city.
