Helm Announces State Funding for 12 Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Companies
HARRISBURG – Twelve fire and ambulance organizations in the 104th Legislative District have been awarded more than $166,000 in funding through the 2016-17 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) announced today.

“These state funds help to ensure the continued operation of the fire and ambulance companies that provide vital services to our communities during emergencies,” Helm said. “I am pleased we are able to offer this additional financial support to our dedicated volunteers.”

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, and not General Fund tax revenue.

Grant awards can be used for construction or renovation of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction.
