Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) will once again partner with the Dauphin County Anglers and Conservationist Club to host a Children’s Trout Rodeo on Saturday, May 20, 2016, at the club’s trout nursery in Dauphin.
The free event is open to children 12 years of age and younger. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Fishing will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. with prizes to be awarded at noon. Those participating are reminded to bring their own fishing gear and equipment.
“Fishing is an activity for the entire family to enjoy and our event is a fun way to introduce a child to the sport,” said Helm. “Every year, I look forward to seeing the excitement on a child’s face when he or she catches that first fish.”
The Dauphin County Anglers and Conservationist Club’s E.J. Stackpole Memorial Trout Nursery is located at 201 Clarks Valley Road in Dauphin.
The club maintains a partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and raises 8,000 fish annually to stock throughout Dauphin County’s waterways. The club’s focus is on providing opportunities for children and individuals with disabilities to fish and fostering an interest in fishing for everyone.
In case of severe weather, the event will take place on Saturday, May 27.
