HARRISBURG – The Commonwealth Financing Authority today approved $170,921 in funding to install sidewalks along Elmerton Avenue in Susquehanna Township, Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) said today.
“This will improve student safety for Susquehanna Township school students, staff and the general public who walk along that stretch of road,” said Helm. “Currently, pedestrians are forced to walk along the street or on the grass because no sidewalks or crosswalks are at Susquehanna Township High School.”
Helm noted the project was requested by Susquehanna Township and was awarded through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.
The project will consist of constructing 2,020 linear feet of sidewalk, installation of handrails as needed, construction of five crosswalks, removal of two trees and planting of 25 trees.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
