HARRISBURG – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced a $125,000 grant for Susquehanna Township to extend the trail system and make parking lot improvements in Boyd Passive Recreation Park off Walker Mill Road.
The funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will be used to close a trail loop around a pond and allow that trail to cross over wetlands. The trail will extend by about 1,900 feet.
Forty paved spaces and a turnaround will be created in the parking lot.
“I’m thankful this project will provide Susquehanna Township with an opportunity to offer residents another place to enjoy walking, bird watching, and other low-impact recreation activities. It is a serene location near Crown Point Park,” Helm said.
The grant funding is part of a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program used for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects.
