SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced that she regrettably is canceling her town hall meeting that had been scheduled to take place on Monday evening, August 20, at the Susquehanna Township Municipal Building.

According to Helm, the reason for the cancellation is concern the town hall will turn into a political “gotcha” event, rather than a legislative one, as it was originally intended to be.

“It has come to my attention that the Tri-County Federation of Democratic Women is urging its members to attend the meeting just to ask pointed, detrimental questions for partisan political purposes,” said Helm. “That is not what these legislative town halls are about. These partisan actions are damaging to the residents of the 104th Legislative District and I am truly disappointed we have been forced to cancel Monday’s meeting.”

Helm, who attends numerous community events on a weekly basis, pointed out that she is available to meet with constituents to discuss their real concerns as she has always been throughout her 30-year career in local politics.
