HARRISBURG – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced almost $62,000 in Safe Schools Grants have been awarded to three school districts in the 104th District by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
“The safety of our school children is a top priority and this funding helps to ensure students, faculty and staff have the safest learning environment possible,” said Helm.
School districts receiving funding include:
• Swatara Township Police Department, on behalf of Central Dauphin – Safe Schools School Police/Resource Officer Grant –$30,000
• Halifax Area – Safe Schools Equipment Grant – $19,930
• Williams Valley – Safe Schools Equipment Grant – $12,000
Safe Schools School Police/Resource Officer Grants allow for the training and compensation of school resource officers and school police officers. This funding lasts for a two-year term.
Safe Schools Equipment Grants assist schools in reducing unnecessary student disciplinary actions and promote a climate of greater productivity, safety and learning. In addition, the funding assists schools in procuring the resources and training necessary to create a physical environment that fosters the safety and well-being of students and staff.
